Here is something we accomplished this past week. It was kind of bitter sweet seeing the house you've raised three boys in going down the road, but then I look and see how tiny and wore out the house is and tell myself it's time to go on. We have a beautiful new home to live in and we're going to build new memories there.

In case somebody asks...the house moved about 28 miles to the west ...thru two towns. We didn't follow to see what path they took or what obstacles they encountered. As soon as it left our property, it belonged to somebody else. They will take it and make it a nice home. I'm sure they'll make some good memories in it too.
Now we have more work to do...we'll have to haul loads of dirt in to make the slope not quite so extreme. Don't you think this will make a wonderful garden spot?!
I'm amazed at how much more light I have coming in on the east side of the new house. Next summer you'll never know there use to be a house setting there.

How bittersweet. But your new house looks beautiful!
I hope you at least upgraded to central air...
OMG....I want the doors in that house!!! Did you incorporate anything from that house into the new house? We used the old doors....5 generations touched them. We are hoping to find an old dollhouse in the attic....which is very very hard to get into. I'm jealous...we've got to get something done to our old house.
That's incredible! I know you love your new house .... you have plenty of memories to hold in your heart forever.
I can just imagine when you watched the building going down the road was difficult...but now it was a "house" and no longer your "Home". You have a new one with which memories will be made.
It is hot here in central Oklahoma also...we are watering the garden or there would not be much. The lawn is more brown than green.
Stay cool...

Amazing photos, it's cool how they can take a house of it's foundation and just take it down the road. And it get's there all in one piece. Your new house looks very nice!
That's amazing! Is it common to just move houses like that in America? Our foundations are always too deep to make it possible, though I don't know that it's something people have even thought of. Did your new house arrive ready made? Or did you have it built from scratch on the site?
i think that is the ultimate recycling. i love that picture of the house moving down the road. i can't imagine how you felt watching it go. it's terribly hot here too...stifling is the only word to describe it.t
It's so fascinating watching houses get moved. And so much nicer than tearing them down. :-)
How exciting for you! A new home but you don't have to move. Not many people get to do that. Great pics. I enjoyed looking at your blog! Thanks for visiting mine, too. :-)
After looking at the pics I had to LOL... I guess you could say that it's so hot in OK that they move houses with the window AC units running???
Your new house will have great memories too - of grandchildren coming to play...
Amazing process, thanks for sharing it! I think it's so cool that you got some of your building cost back by selling the old house, and that the new owners will be just as thrilled to have it as you are to have your new house. =)
Good memories will be had by all.
