ICE!

I've had several of you email me to see if we've survived the first ice storm of 2007. Thank you. Yes, we have. It started last friday morning and we received about 3" of the white stuff. If you've never been outside when it's raining b-b's, it's quite an experience. Mini-hail is what DH called it.

It's now tuesday (Monday was a federal holiday) and I'm back to work. The major highways are clear, but our back country roads are still slicker-than-you-know-what.

They're predicting freezing temps for most of the week and another ice-storm coming in later this week. Just what we don't need with construction going on.

Speakin' of construction...I took this picture the night before the storm (when it was 70 degrees outside).

It's my 25x25 basement. The rods poking up will be a wall dividing the room in half...which is also support for the garage up above.

AND.....you know when it's storming, I have to spend part of the time sewing. This is what I started (and finished) over the icey-weekend.

It's a double 4-patch which is scraps from my last two homespuns projects. ONLY scraps and it's 72x72 before the borders. I don't wanna see anymore homespuns for awhile!
Troy calls it "the ugly quilt", but I betcha it'll work good keeping us warm!
It's tuesday, so it's back to work!

Oh, the scrappy homespuns are great -- my kind of quilt!

Stay warm -- drive carefully!

Glad to hear you came through the storm well enough!

I am glad that you posted--been wondering how you fared when we heard where the storm was heading. Like, was the power out etc?

So you got to stitching anyway--bet Troy will be the first to snuggle under it in spite of his disparging remarks. Way to use up those scraps!

It is NOT the ugly quilt...fold it and place a jar of Valentine M & M's next to it and you are set for the holiday coming.

LOL! We had quite a bit of that "BB rain" yesterday with more expected to day. And I plan to do today what I did yesterday. Which is NOT set foot out of my house!

And it's NOT an ugly quilt. Even I like it and I'm not overly fond of homespuns. In fact I gave all of mine to my sister when she came to visit last year.

The news says the weather is really terrible in the mid-west. I hope you are safe and dry and still have power.

Nice big hole that is started though!

Your quilt is lovely and OMG - what a lot of ice in that big ol' hole! Hope that warmer temperatures will be on their way to you very soon.

Hugs, Gail

That looks cold! But the homespun quilt might come in handy next time there's weather like this. Hope this weekend's storm isn't too awful.

Glad you made it through the storm, and hope the remaining one(s) are mild. In the meantime, you can stay warm and make a lot of quilts.

I love it - it looks warm, despite what Troy says. Stay warm and safe this weekend.
