Had a good time at the fair. Troy took three pigs and won two ribbons. Overall the school won more places (ribbons) than last year, so we have to say the show was a success. It would be great to say we got one in the premium sale (where the big money is), but we (the whole school) didn't get there. That's alright...the kids had fun and enjoy going so it's worth it.There was also some nice quilts at the fair. It's always fun to go to be inspired. Last year it was a bullseye quilt that I saw that made me finally decide to make mine. Who knows what I'll start next because of what was seen. There are still three unfinished projects laying in my living room that are going to be finished first!
Visited three fabric shops while in Tulsa and found the backing fabric I needed for my bricks and stepping stones fabric. Surprised myself and bought something totally different than what I went in looking for. Also went looking for some fabric for another project but gave up on that idea. Proves that you should buy enough fabric for the WHOLE project.
Got to visit my niece whom I hadn't seen in several months. I'm gonna be a Great-Aunt! Don't I look great?
AND...bought myself a new pair of NewBalance shoes...NOW..I'm ready for HOUSTON!
Probably the most important purchase was a new cell phone...so nice to have one that works! Middle son said that if I wouldn't cuss so much, I wouldn't need to wash the dirty words outta it. Yeah, right.....
The washer is calling....why is it that when you're only gone for a couple of days you're always behind.
BTW---somebody asked me about my windmill. Yes, we have a working one here on the farm and have several on other places. They're a pain to maintain, but they still remind me of old-times.

I have enjoyed reading your blog about the farm life. It sounds so interesting. Thank you.
Congratulations to your son on the pig ribbons.
Great looking son, and prize-winning pig, too! Thanks for sharing your photos.
Glad you got your new cell phone, and the new shoes...those quilt shows are so enormous, you'll need both!
Well done at the fair! Your handsome son looks pretty proud in the picture. Nothing like looking at the quilts at the fair to inspire new projects!
I LOVE going to the livestock shows! My son doesn't do the Fall ones, but gets really into them after the Holidays.. Congratulations on the ribbon, and to your school!
Have fun quilting!

Congratulations to Troy! It sounds as if you used the fair trip for lots of good things, including Houston shoes. =)
Can't wait until Houston! I will be the one either with a cane and tennis shoes or with my boot still on just to help me with the walking. :)
I also really enjoy reading about life on the farm. Congratulations to your son on the ribbons.
That FFA jacket sure brought back memories.......... My daughter was in FFA when she was in high school. Those were the days.........
Wow - more ribbons more more family members! Congratulations to Troy, I'm so glad they all had fun - isn't that what is so important?
New Balance shoes - you'll love them! How is your shopping list going for Houston?
Well done with the ribbons at the fair! Great job! You did so many things, and congrats on soon becoming a great aunt, wonderful news!

Woo-hoo, Troy! Way to go!! Wow what a handsome young man! Bet he has to beat the girls off with a stick! BTW, I love the lavender quilt! I use a Magic Mill. It is ok. Not what I am dreaming of having for all time, but I got it on Ebay for $100. My friend has the top of the line Whisper Mill and it is much less dusty than mine- and maybe a little quieter. Another friend has a Bosch and it does have lots of neat attatchments- but I like to knead my own bread. Still enjoying your ginger cookies!
I loved reading your blog!!
You sound like alot of fun..loved seeing the pics from the fair too! My second set of kids (3 grown ones and now 4 at home) are 4H age now and loving it...oldest daughter will no doubt do FFA..my second son loved it! We have a mini farm here..wish we had more room! Congrats to your son!!!
Just had to let you know how I enjoyed your blog!!
He's so handsome! The pig I mean.
It's getting close to Houston time. Do you have a shopping list?
You will have so much fun.
I was at the quilt show they were setting up yesterday for the Cheese Festival and some of the ladies were showing quilts they made from kits they got at the Houston market.
A great aunt -- wow!
He looks great in his FFA coat!
You know, looking at your son, I do wish we lived on a farm. I think our boys would love it, especially my oldest. My husband was raised on a farm and I was raised by farmers, in town. LOL... long story...
