Summer Harvest

Harvest this year was the fastest that I've ever seen. We started on a Friday and in 9 days were finished...no rain and no major breakdowns.

This was the last year with the old (MY) combine. We have been wanting to get another newer one and the second day it was advertised...it sold. This is also our new-to-us truck. Of course Troy is the only one who gets to drive it.

There's always somebody who wants to ride in the combine! Before we know it, she'll probably be driving it.

Grain production was actually pretty good this year. The price has been going up, so maybe we can get a decent price for it this year too.

Anybody want a windtower in THEIR backyard?
I have about a kazillion pictures to upload...so more posts to come.

WooHoo another John Deere family! Loved the pictures-- of course your fields are much larger than ours in northern Wisconsin so you have much larger heads on your combines. Our grandkids love to ride in the combine with Papa! Let's hope the prices stay or improve! People don't understand the investment farmers have in seed and machinery.

I can hardly believe "no rain" for 9 days! Maybe it was all spit out here in Western Nebraska. LOTs of unusual rain, floods, tornados, hail, and weather alerts and sirens. Good luck for you and the harvest.

Glad it all went so well this year. I loved seeing all the wind towers as we drove out of Weatherford.

The rain didn't make it from Oregon over the mountains!

Wettest June on record. EVERYTHING is moldy. Garden is just now growing, and we had 100 degrees today!

We need a new "weather guesser"!

I love your wind generators. Are they noisy? The ones in the passes in California make an odd noise.

We have our wheat all in and they're trying to get the oats done...looks like rain coming our way which we need badly.
Our grandson loves to ride in the 'commie' as he calls it.

I love reading about the farm. Your life is so different from mine. I once saw a truck carrying the blades for those wind turbines and they are ginormous!! No thanks you can keep them!

Congrats on the "easy" harvest this year. Is it always this early for you?

Looks to be a long year for us in Illinois -- way too much rain, replanted twice, and still a lot of it just looks sick.
