Gobble-Gobble

I like Thanksgiving just about like the rest of the world. We all get together with family and have a good meal and are all thankfull for a good harvest.

This year somebody(and we're not mentioning names) decided that the normal family get together wasn't big enough. I have 37 (thirty-seven) coming for dinner next Sunday. Seems like many are going out of town to see their own families, so they're all coming to MY house beforehand.

Yes, I volunteered to host Thanksgiving this year, but the "normal" group includes roughly 20+ people---depending on if several have dates. I don't mind having a few extra...but HOLY COW!

AND...since I have the coziest home, they all want to come. Oh, I forgot to mention...I'm going to be gone most of Saturday to a baby shower for my newest grandaughter.

Okay...Giz...When can I start my nervous breakdown? Thank goodness for DIL's and SIL's who are great cooks. Can I sent out an invitation that states "bring your own chair"?

AND...I still don't have a credit card to go buy groceries. I've got to go pull some cash...like the good-old-days!

absolutely tell them to bring their own chair. Just go with the flow. We had to do that a number of years ago at Christmastime. We had ordered a new living room set that was in and waiting for us until we sold our old one. A couple came on Christmas Eve afternoon and bought our old one, so no chairs in the living room for anyone to sit in. Thanks goodness it was my family and everyone just made a big party out of it. If you feed them good, no one will mind, I'm sure.

37 sounds great...when you aren't cooking everything yourself...and in Australia, "bring a chair" is just about a standard part of all entertaining, we always throw a few in the boot of the car in case.
Loved your sewing pics, we are about to windrow canola and you are sowing! great that fertlilizer is starting to come down...may have been an Olympic based price hike like was suggested-all the factories may have restarted now the tourists ar gone!
Have fun...and sorry about the purse... and congrats on the baby!

great $12 quilt!!Tracey

Bring a chair, AND a dish! I would SO make it more of a pot luck. Even if each one just brought a dessert or a side. You can do the main dish and buns, let others help you. I certainly don't think it's asking too much. I would never go to something like that and not at least ask, What can I bring?

Our thanksgiving is the same fare every year: go to SILs in Lubbock. I bring broccoli casserole and apple pie; MIL brings dressing, some sort of cranberry salad stuff, and pumpkin pie, SILs MIL brings sweet potatoes and some diabetic dessert. SIL makes the turkey and buns, I'll mash the potatoes, MIL makes the gravy.
