Life on the range.....

I've been nursing a DH with pneumonia. It started with strep and then went down to the lungs. Having a spouse set there and say "I can't breathe" and being able to hear the rattle was scarey. After a trip to the ER with two injections and three prescriptions and a night of throwing up the pain meds...yep....being a SPOUSE and MOM can be lovely sometimes. Thank goodness for that little blue insurance card.

On the new-home-front....I have an electric pole and meter. We had a week of ice/snow storms and that put everybody about two weeks behind. Don't know how they figure their days but I've learned not to argue with contractors if you want them to work. Maybe friday (or sometime this weekend) I'll have the start of a basement. I keep looking for a raincloud. You can't dig a basement unless it rains, right?!

On the sewing-frontier.....I've made the citrus yardages I brought back from Houston into an apron. (picture later-nobody would model). I just need to sew the ties onto it and it will be done. I'll have ONE (Count them ONE) homemade present for Christmas.

Speakin of Christmas....SOMEBODY reminded me that Christmas was coming. No, I still don't have a tree up. It's still in the garage setting there will dust still on it. I mentioned that we needed to get it out and the response was "what's the hurry". I'm not the only one at my house not in the mood for Christmas.

Oh, I forgot...the tile-guy is suppose to come out tonight too. Have to describe how I want my shower built.

Can't believe that no one in your family would want to model a very pretty apron - LOL. Why don't you model it my dear? Can't wait to see it.

Hope your DH recovers soon.

Looking forward to seeing the apron when you find a model ;-)

Sounds like you been so busy Christmas is creeping up on you. Hope DH is better quick. With guys they seems to get a little better and then over do it...He needs to watch that.

Hey Mama, a power pole is good news :) We are waiting on our electric co-op to figure out some measurements...we are having to bring power from 1/4 mile away...YIKES! At $20 a foot :( Good thing we can write it off because we are building our shop first :)

Having a sick DH is no fun - so I hope he is feeling better soon.

What is the rush for Christmas - relax! In Austria decorating is very subtle - and trees don't go up until Christmas Eve and are down well before the New Year parties. The big thing is the Advent calendar, which goes up Dec. 1st and the Advent wreath with the candles. This last trip to the US I was so disappointed - right after Halloween I couldn't find a single Thanksgiving decoration - everything was already Christmas...

Cheers!

Hope he's better--pneumonia can be scary. I've had a cold and it's nearly sapped me! My MIL and my Dad are both susceptible to pneumonia. I'm not in the Christmas spirit myself although we did finally get the tree in the living room up. The one from the dining room is still not up but boxes are sitting in there waiting!

Yeah, I understand about contractors. I hate having to babysit adults, and it seems like I had to keep calling them so they would remember that I needed work on the next step on fixing my house. Because when they get ordered parts in, they don't know that means maybe they should schedule an appointment to install said part. Car mechanics aren't much different. The problem is that the good ones can get away with this kind of service!
Hope your DH recovers soon, and doesn't share any illnesses with you.

Sounds like life at your house is as much fun as it is at my house.

I sure hope your husband gets better soon. There is nothing worse than being sick at Christmas time.

Good luck with the many frustrations of home building - but it will be well worth it in the end.

Merry Christmas
