More progress with Miss Rachel. They took off her air tube since it had been turned down to 21% oxygen and that is what you and I breathe. She digested more milk so they're still giving it to her. Her poor little face is really red from all tape that held the tubes on with. This will disappear after a few days.
She is such a wiggle-worm-- she's always trying to get free. One day she tried to crawl out of her nest.
Every day they change out her bedding and it's all handmade items that local groups donate to the NICU. If you do this type of work...BLESS YOU! I cannot take things up there and be guaranteed they will get on her bed. There are 80 babies in the unit and every one has special things to be cuddled with. But...you can bet this baby will have all kinds of things later on!

Saska, I've been away from my computer for awhile and Howdy gave me a head's up, on Rachel. What a precious bundle she is. My prayers are going out, for all.

And, don't forget that little girl babies fight harder, after they are born, than the babies with the little talli-whackers....
That's right..women are fighters from day one. Rachel has many praying for her.
I'm so glad to hear she's doing better and better. That's amazing that they have those donated items for the babies. Do they wash them and re-use them?
I hope and pray she continues to progress.
Was just browsing thru blogs and found yours. I had to let you know that prayers are going up to the heavens from Missouri for Rachel and her mommy and daddy.
Good golly.. I am way behind on blog reading. SO glad to see Ms. Rachel! She is beautiful and quite the fiesty little thing. Also so glad that Mom, Dad and the Grands are doing well.
i get tears in my eyes with every post...brings back so many memories...i'm so glad she is making good progress.
Very precious baby! I'm praying for all involved. Get as much rest as you can....they'll really need you when they get home. Is this the one that lives near or far?
I am glad she is doing so well. Modern technology is amazing. Look forward to her being strong enough to go home.
Been following along, and will continue to. Modern science is wonderful; I have three nieces/nephews who were even smaller and younger than Rachel. All three are now grown up (4, 6 & 7) and live completely normal lives. This all will be just the beginning of many memoires she will bring to you, and I can’t wait to read them all!

What a sweet little angel. Sending good thoughts to you and your family.
I hadn't looked at your blog in the past few weeks & didn't realize Rachel had arrived. She's beautiful & I'll pray that she continues to do well! I used to make quilts for the NICU when I lived in FL - makes me qant to start again! They used them to cover the isolettes as the babies were always in "daylight". They weren't able to actually use them as bedding, but the quilt on their isolette went home with them.
Glad to hear little Rachel is doing okay--must have been a bit of a scare. Prayers for her and your family. And I bet she will be smothered in quilts when she gets home!
Merry Christmas to you and your family!
For so tiny, she looks very good to me. What a blessing for you all.
