These two quilts are the handprints from the students in each class. She had the students write their own name under their handprint. She's going to go back and write their whole name somewhere on the block, her name, and the name of the school somewhere on the quilt.

I then took the blocks and sashed them with two different fabrics to make sure they were different.

She tied them with red thread. I think they turned out really cute.

The backings were even done different from each other. AND..these were done in a day and a half! Definitely a lot of sewing done in a short amount of time.

Sure hope DIL's principal appreciates these! They will be on display at her school for about two weeks before they're auctioned off. Wouldn't YOU buy a quilt if your child's handprint was on it?!
And, if that wasn't enough sewing...we made another baby quilt for a gift she needed. I didn't get a picture of it, but after binding three quilts in an afternoon...I think I've got the technique down pretty good.

Those are absolutely gorgeous - I did the same thing for DD's Kindergarten class about 4 years ago - the quilt hung in the classroom for the year. What a great job you both did. You do realise of couse that this will be an instant hit and you'll have to do again next year.

You are the best MIL.......
Great quilts and they should bring in the bucks.
What a great MIL, there will be 2 very excited parents and 38 disappointed!!
These are adorable! I taught 2 yr olds for 10 years...Yes taught! I now teach a class that the entire preschool cycles through...2 yr olds-kinder! When ya' love little ones it's easy. I can tell that your DIL must love her job! It takes that kind of love to create such a great momento for two lucky parents!
They look FABULOUS!!
An idea for her:I ran the kinder fundraising for about 4 years and we made big calico cushions and each child drew a picture with permanent textas and signed. They auction off for a lot as well.
Who doesn't want their kids picture!Tracey
Wonderful quilts with the handprints on them! Power sewing indeed, and they turned out so well...
What sweet quilts! You did a wonderful job on them. I know those kid's parents are going to go crazy bidding on those.
Just darling!
I love you blog. BTW, I just tagged you but you look WAY too busy to play. Better to power sew than tag but at least it prompted me to check in on your blog, this morning!
