Having raised/raising three monsters we have gone thru a lot of peanut butter. Last night on the 10pm news (yes, I was awake for once) they came across with a peanut butter recall.
I never check on these things because I rarely have the brands they are talking about. NOT this time!
Read about it here.
Read about it here.
First I griped...."do they know how much that jar of peanut butter cost to just throw it out?" THEN....my frugal-ness settled down and since I can't stand anybody being sick....I kicked myself for even thinking it.
Yes, it went into the trash before I left the house this morning.
Check the number listed on your jar of Peter Pan peanut butter. I don't want ANYBODY getting sick, okay?! I warned ya...

Thanks for the warning...Peter Pan is my favorite kind of Peanut Butter!
What is the recall for? A bad crop of peanuts? Rotten? Just curious!
Mandy, it's a recall for salmonella in the peanutbutter. So if you baked it - like peanutbutter cookies or something, you should be ok.
Anyhow, you can mail back the lids of the contaminated peanutbutter and they'll refund you. If you call them, they will send you a post-paid envelope if you ask. One lady I know of had 27 jars! It would have been painful to pay for that kind of shipping.
No worries here, since we don't buy that brand.
It is a bit scary when you think of all the food we just eat without thinking about what has occurred in the production of the food.
Peter Pan peanut butter is not sold in Canada. (Just like Aleve, which still annoys me)
Oh, that chocolate pound cake sounds and looks luscious!
I DID have a jar of Peter Pan peanut butter in my cupboard. I just bought it yesterday! So, I took it back and they gave me a jar of another brand. Can't live without my peanut butter!
I heard the same news and checked my cupboard. Yes, I had some Peter Pan peanut butter with the recalled number - but, I had already eaten more than 2/3's of the jar and never got sick. Still, I threw the remainder out.
Couldn't you return it back to the store for a refund? Nothing is safe to eat anymore, and I hate that it is the healthy stuff - vegetables and peanut butter - that is on the unsafe list.
Yikes! I have a jar! TY for the PSA - I hadn't heard a word about it. That chocolate pound cake recipe is just about done printing - it's going to church tomorrow!
I was going to say - surely they will give you a refund. It won't be good for their business, will it?
Saska, use this address and mail just the lid back in order to get a refund. Yep, I just had gotten a big jar four days before.

I love peanut butter--one of the few things that is leftover from childhood and I eat it just about every morning for breakfast.
Imagine you having the recall number on your jar; good thing you checked.
Hi Mama Koch! Just wanted to thank you for stopping by, reading and commenting on my blog the other day. Nice to hear from you!
By the way, I love your crumb quilt that you posted in late january. It is great!
Is the recall just on creamy? I had the crunchy this morning and I feel fine!..............falls on the floor............lol
